On June 25, Apple users experienced widespread disruptions across multiple iCloud services, including Photos, Find My, iCloud Mail, and others. The issues began around 12:06 AM IST and were resolved by 4:30 AM, according to Apple’s System Status page. The Find My service, crucial for tracking Apple devices and location sharing, faced downtime between 12:10 AM and 3:00 AM. Apple acknowledged that some users experienced access and functionality problems during this period.
Outage-tracking site Downdetector recorded a sharp increase in user complaints, peaking at 908 reports around 1:15 AM. Half of the complaints related to email access issues, 26% involved server connection problems, and 24% were about difficulties in accessing or syncing files across devices.
Users reported various glitches during the outage. Many encountered repeated prompts asking them to “sign into account to verify Apple ID,” causing frustration. Others faced issues sending or receiving emails, with some messages bouncing back due to “sender invalid” errors. Syncing problems were also widespread, with some users reporting that data failed to sync between their Apple devices.
Apple’s system status page indicated that the issues were intermittent and affected only a subset of users, but the impact was significant given the reliance on these cloud services for daily tasks. The company did not immediately provide a detailed explanation for the cause of the outage but assured users that services had been restored and were functioning normally.
This incident highlights the challenges of maintaining seamless cloud services amid growing user demand. Apple continues to prioritize improving its infrastructure to prevent such disruptions and enhance the user experience.
Users are encouraged to monitor Apple’s System Status page for real-time updates and report any ongoing issues to Apple Support.
