The devastating monsoon in Himachal Pradesh has now claimed 257 lives since June, as heavy rains continue to batter the hill state. Torrential downpours have triggered landslides, flash floods, and massive road blockages across several districts, including Mandi, Kullu, and Kinnaur.
Key highways, including the Chandigarh–Manali route, remain blocked at multiple points, leaving tourists and locals stranded for hours. Rescue teams, including the NDRF and state disaster units, are working round-the-clock to clear debris and restore connectivity, but continuous rainfall has slowed down operations.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable areas, as the weather department warns of more rain in the coming days. With many villages cut off and relief efforts hampered, the situation remains tense in the already battered state.
