Trump Supporters Split Over Epstein Files as Pressure Mounts for Release
As pressure intensifies in Washington over the release of court documents related to the late Jeffrey Epstein, former President Donald Trump has denied writing a lewd birthday note to Epstein and is now calling for the release of the files. The controversy has reignited public scrutiny of Epstein’s connections and fueled demands for transparency — especially from within Trump’s own base.
While political leaders and media outlets in the capital are in a frenzy over what the documents may contain, on the ground in places like West Pittston, Pennsylvania, the mood is more mixed.
This week, Vice President JD Vance visited West Pittston and was met with enthusiasm from local supporters. Many expressed continued trust in Trump, believing he will ultimately do what’s right.
“When he’s ready, he’ll let them out,” said 72-year-old Ed DeLucca. “There’s a reason for it. They’ll come out.” DeLucca, like others in the area, sees the delay not as evasion but as part of a bigger strategy.
Others, such as Chrissy Maddocks, are more focused on Trump’s policies than on the Epstein controversy. “I’d say, to our MAGA base: Have faith in President Trump,” she said, praising his economic stance and tough immigration measures, including deportation roundups.
However, not everyone in town is as patient. Steven Taylor, a truck driver, voiced frustration over the lack of clarity. “We didn’t ask for it. And now we want it. We demand it,” he told CBS News, expressing a sentiment of betrayal if the documents continue to be withheld.
The debate reflects a broader tension within Trump’s base—balancing loyalty to the former president with a desire for truth and accountability. While some see the Epstein files as a distraction from more pressing national issues like the economy and the border, others view them as a test of Trump’s transparency and leadership.
With legal and political pressures mounting, all eyes are now on how Trump navigates the controversy, especially with the 2024 election looming ever closer.
