Sitaare Zameen Par Day 1 Box Office Collection: Aamir Khan’s Return Beats Kesari Chapter 2, Trails Behind Sikandar
After a three-year break, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan returned to the big screen with Sitaare Zameen Par, following the commercial failure of Laal Singh Chaddha. Despite receiving positive reviews from audiences and critics alike, the film had a slow start at the box office on its opening day.
According to Sacnilk, Sitaare Zameen Par earned ₹10.7 crore domestically on day one. Along with an overseas collection of ₹7.15 crore, the film’s total worldwide day one gross stands at ₹20 crore. While these numbers are respectable, they fall short compared to typical Aamir Khan film openings, especially considering Laal Singh Chaddha had a stronger start with ₹11.70 crore in India and ₹23.85 crore worldwide on its first day.
However, Sitaare Zameen Par managed to outperform Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2, which collected ₹15 crore worldwide on its first day. On the other hand, it still trails behind Salman Khan’s Sikandar which earned ₹26 crore worldwide, and Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2, which pulled in ₹25.70 crore on day one.
Despite the slow start, the film is expected to see a significant jump in box office numbers in the coming days, thanks to the positive word of mouth and audience appreciation.
The film is a spiritual sequel to Aamir Khan’s 2007 blockbuster Taare Zameen Par. Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par tells the story of Aamir playing a basketball coach who trains a team of neurodivergent individuals for an important tournament. Alongside Aamir, the film features Genelia D’Souza in a key role.
Notably, the film introduces 10 debutant actors, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, and others, supported by a strong ensemble cast featuring Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, Brijendra Kala, and Ankita Sehgal.
As the film gains traction, it will be interesting to see if it can sustain momentum and secure a strong box office run for Aamir Khan’s comeback project.
