Sitaare Zameen Par Worldwide Box Office Day 3: Aamir Khan’s Film Ranks #8 Globally, Surpasses Materialists and Kuberaa
Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh’s latest release Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna, is off to a strong start at the global box office. The film, which hit theatres worldwide on June 20, 2025, has earned an estimated $10.2 million (approximately ₹88 crore) in just its opening weekend, securing the 8th position in the worldwide box office rankings, as per data from Comscore.
- Sitaare Zameen Par* outperformed Dhanush-starrer Kuberaa and Dakota Johnson’s Materialists, both of which were among the weekend’s major releases. While Materialists had a one-week head start, having released on June 13, both Sitaare Zameen Par and Kuberaa debuted on June 20. Despite the competition, Aamir Khan’s film made a solid impact.
Domestically, the film has collected ₹58.15 crore net and ₹69.75 crore gross, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film’s overseas performance added another ₹26 crore to its total, pushing its worldwide gross to ₹95.75 crore in just three days. It is now well on its way to crossing the ₹100 crore mark, a significant milestone for any Indian film in such a short span.
Topping the global box office charts are international heavyweights including How To Train Your Dragon, 28 Years Later, Elio, Lilo & Stitch, She’s Got No Name, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, and Ballerina. With Sitaare Zameen Par sitting just behind these titles, there’s growing anticipation to see if it can surpass Ballerina in the coming days.
The film’s performance is also being closely watched in comparison to Aamir Khan’s previous releases. It is expected to soon surpass the total box office of Laal Singh Chaddha, which had a mixed reception upon release.
With positive word-of-mouth and continued interest in its emotional narrative, Sitaare Zameen Par is poised to have a strong weekday run as well. The coming days will determine if it can maintain its momentum and rise further in the global rankings.
