Trump Slams Elon Musk Over New Political Party, Calls Move ‘Ridiculous’ and a ‘Train Wreck’
Former U.S. President Donald Trump launched a sharp attack on Elon Musk on Sunday, criticizing the Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s reported plans to form a new political party. Trump said Musk has “gone completely off the rails” and described his recent actions as a “train wreck,” especially over the past five weeks.
In a fiery post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump expressed disappointment with Musk’s political direction, claiming that third parties have historically failed in the United States and only add to political chaos. “He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States – The System seems not designed for them,” Trump wrote. “The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS, and we have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their minds!”
Trump went on to praise the Republican Party, referring to it as a “smooth running machine” and highlighted the recent passage of what he described as the “biggest Bill of its kind in the History of our Country.” He emphasized that the bill eliminates the federal Electric Vehicle (EV) mandate, which he claimed would have forced Americans into EV purchases prematurely.
Taking a direct shot at Musk’s electric vehicle empire, Trump said, “Unfortunately for Elon, it eliminates the ridiculous Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate… I have been strongly opposed to that from the very beginning.” He added that consumers now have the freedom to choose between gasoline-powered cars, hybrids, or emerging technologies without federal pressure.
Trump also mentioned that Musk had previously offered him “total and unquestioned endorsement” during his campaign and questioned whether Musk was aware of his stance on ending the EV mandate. “It was in every speech I made, and in every conversation I had,” Trump stated.
The escalating war of words between the two billionaires signals growing tensions as the 2024 election season heats up, with Musk’s political ambitions potentially disrupting the established party dynamics.
