Two people died and two were injured when a landslide struck Vikhroli’s Jankalyan Society in the early hours today amid incessant rain. The IMD issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in the Mumbai region (and neighbouring Raigad), with widespread waterlogging and disruptions reported. Civic authorities urged caution and limited travel; emergency teams are on site for rescue and debris clearance. Residents in vulnerable slopes and low-lying pockets have been advised to stay alert as more intense spells are forecast through the day.
