Rahul Gandhi Turns 55: Fitness Secrets Revealed – From Martial Arts to Low-Carb Lifestyle

Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, turned 55 on June 19, 2025. Even as he crosses the mid-50s mark, Gandhi’s commitment to health and fitness continues to inspire many, especially the youth. Known for his active lifestyle, the Congress MP has consistently incorporated physical activity into his daily routine, including martial arts, diving, and disciplined dietary habits.

Back in 2023, during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Rajasthan, Rahul Gandhi gave an insight into his fitness regime in a candid conversation with CurlyTales, a popular travel and food platform. He revealed that he is a black belt in martial arts and maintains his skills through regular training, even while on the road during the Yatra. He also practices diving and engages in different forms of physical exercises to stay in shape.

When it comes to his diet, Gandhi disclosed that he avoids carbohydrates as much as possible. However, if he has to choose, he prefers roti over rice. A self-proclaimed non-vegetarian food lover, his favorite dishes include chicken tikka, seekh kebab, and a simple plain omelette. For beverages, he prefers starting his day with a single cup of coffee.

Marking his birthday, the Delhi Congress and the Indian Youth Congress organized a mega job fair at Talkatora Stadium — a symbolic move tied to Gandhi’s consistent focus on unemployment as a core issue in his political discourse. The event aims to connect job seekers with opportunities, showcasing a blend of celebration and public service.

Social media platforms, especially X (formerly Twitter), were flooded with birthday wishes for the Congress leader. Notable political figures, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, extended their greetings. Rajnath Singh wrote, “Greetings to the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Shri @RahulGandhi on his birthday. May he be blessed with good health and a long life.”

Gandhi’s 55th birthday thus blended personal wellness, political messaging, and public outreach — reflecting his multi-dimensional public persona.
