New Delhi, May 17, 2025 – The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is officially set to resume today, following a week-long suspension caused by heightened tensions and military conflict between India and Pakistan. The suspension was a result of national security concerns during Operation Sindoor and the regional instability that followed.
With a ceasefire now in place, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the remaining 17 matches—including 12 league stage games and 5 playoff/final fixtures—will proceed as scheduled across six Indian cities.
📍 Key Details:
- Resumption Date: May 17, 2025
- Number of Matches Remaining: 17
- Cities Hosting Matches: Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru
- Final Match: Scheduled for June 3, 2025
Fans can expect a high-stakes end to the season, as teams compete for playoff spots in a compressed schedule. The BCCI has assured that security measures have been strengthened at all venues in coordination with local law enforcement and central agencies.
BCCI Statement:
“We are committed to delivering a safe and exciting conclusion to IPL 2025. The players’ safety, fans’ experience, and the integrity of the game remain our top priorities,” a BCCI spokesperson said.
Several foreign players who had briefly returned home during the conflict are now returning to India to rejoin their squads.
