Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par Gains Box Office Momentum with Over 10,000 Last-Hour Ticket Sales
Aamir Khan’s latest emotional drama Sitaare Zameen Par opened in theatres across India today (June 20) with a modest start, but the film is quickly building momentum as ticket sales pick up through the day. While the early morning saw a relatively quiet response due to most shows being scheduled post 10 AM, a sharp surge in bookings around midday has signaled strong audience interest.
According to data from BookMyShow, more than 10,000 tickets were booked in the last hour alone, indicating that the film is gaining traction as the day progresses. By 1 PM, Sitaare Zameen Par had earned an estimated ₹1.68 crore at the Indian box office, a respectable figure considering the staggered show timings and cautious initial turnout.
The film had already generated decent anticipation in the lead-up to release. Advance bookings ahead of the premiere stood at ₹3.31 crore from 115,344 tickets sold across 9,542 shows nationwide. Including block bookings (reserved group sales often done by organizations or bulk buyers), the pre-release booking total rose to ₹6.88 crore—reflecting a solid foundation for its theatrical run.
The film’s performance is strongest in the Hindi-speaking markets, with the Hindi 2D version contributing ₹3.19 crore in gross collections from 103,884 tickets sold. Although its footprint in regional languages is limited, Sitaare Zameen Par has shown promise in Telugu-speaking regions as well, with 9,309 tickets sold for the Telugu version alone.
